To be eligible, candidates must satisfy the following criteria as of the cutoff dates: Education: An LLB degree from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Experience: A minimum of 3 years of continuous practice as an advocate (calculated from the date of enrollment with the State Bar Council). Age (as of 01-08-2025): Minimum 22 years and maximum 35 years for General males (up to 40 years for women and reserved categories).

The selection is a three-stage process designed to test legal and general knowledge: Prelims (Stage 1): Two objective papers—General Studies (100 marks) and Law (150 marks). Mains (Stage 2): Five compulsory descriptive papers (General Knowledge, Science, Hindi, English, and Law of Evidence) plus three optional law subjects chosen by the candidate. Interview (Stage 3): Carries 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 35% required to be considered for the final merit list.
